Pearce and Ann Bailey bought 15 acres in Sadler, TX in 1996 as a place to retire. By June 1999 they had planted blueberry and blackberry bushes and opened to the public as a pick-your-own berry patch.

In the years following, the Baileys had seen much success despite the trials and tribulations of operating an agriculture business. After all, the availability of berries each season relies heavily on the weather. Bailey's Berry Patch grew each year with more bushes and more visitors. Ann Bailey was dedicated to staying connected to visitors through her newsletter and personal attention to guests each summer.

In the Fall of 2009, a young couple heard about Baileys' Berry Patch and the Baileys' desire to retire from the berry business. Jeannie and Erick Duarte were just the people to come along with a passion for getting away from the city and getting their hands dirty, so to speak. Through months of mentoring and learning from the Baileys, the Duartes were able to take on their first berry picking season in the summer of 2010. The cool winter provided just the right weather and cold days to produce a very bountiful, though slightly delayed, blueberry season.

The Duartes have lots of plans for the future of Bailey's Berry Patch to make it a year-round destination and to continue the Bailey's traditions that made it such a wonderful summer outing for families and blueberry lovers alike.
