Lisa Marshall and her wonderful produce will be here every day that we are open in June and July.  She plans to have everything picked fresh from her garden.  She has over 350 tomato plants.  You will enjoy taking bags of these great vegetables home with you every time that you come to The Berry Patch.

Heather Bennett is the special young mother who has developed her own line of sweet smelling products.  The company is called “Pure Indulgent”.  She got started by making candles for her friends and family and has now expanded her line into bath and body products.  She offers everything from soaps, to sugar and salt scrubs, shower gels and bubble bath.   There are 74 scents to choose from.  You will surely find that fragrance that is perfect for you.  Her scents range from Coconut Mango to Chocolate Crème Brule and then on to Vanilla Hazelnut.  Go ahead …. Indulge yourself!

Teresa Sanders our wonderful summer artist.  Her company is known as “Trash to Treasures”.  She is truly an artist…. the children love for her to paint cute butterflies, bugs, baseballs, etc. on their face and arms.  Everything that she does has such personality.  Pearce and I are looking forward to her being here.  It is such fun to see what she brings with her.

We ran into Dan Holloway at the Art & Craft Show in Denison in early May.  Pearce was drawn to his wonderful cedar items.  We asked him if he would set up here every Saturday and he agreed to give it a try.  You will find everything from small and large planter boxes to small and large trash containers to impressive insulated coolers.   What great gifts these would make for that special man in your life.  Dad would certainly like one also.

Pam Varner of Barn Cat Quilts started quilting about 5 years ago.  Her mom and sister were already quilters and she realized how much fun and self expression that she could by quilting herself.  A couple of years ago, she started designing her own quilt patters.  Most of these are primitive patterns that are fun and easy to do.  Pam is a working mom herself and knows that there are a number of people just like her who want to finish a project in a weekend or two.

Ruby Reeve of Ruby’s Quail Farm in Gordonville, TX will be here every Saturday with her wonderful “pickled quail eggs”.  Ruby (also known as Red River Ruby) has dedicated herself to raising the Tiny Pharaoh Quail laying hens.  All of Ruby’s quail hens are hatched on her farm using her own brood stock.  During the last five years, Ruby has perfected an extremely tasty blend of spices which are used in a special process to pickle the eggs.  Recently she has added a spicier version with hints of the great southwest hot taste flavor in each jar.  Whichever way you may like them, Ruby’s pickled quail eggs are unequaled for taste and freshness, and….they are a 100% TEXAS product.

Saturday

How about those Cloggers….

Gayla Hart and Kristi Beyer are the Directors and founders of Cloggin’ Fever.  Clogging is an American folk dance that is similar to tap dancing.  The dancers make rhythmic tapping sounds with their feet.  Special shoes are used to emphasis the tapping sounds.  These are usually soft leather shoes with hard soles and attached metal taps.  Come and enjoy.

Plans are to sell Sausage-on-a-Stick, German sausage in a bun, German potato sausage and Sauerkraut all day.

Bobby Rogers, Magician - and more!!

Bobby Rogers, a local magician, will be here to entertain both children and adults.

You can look forward to being the first to being one of the first to own and enjoy a book that will soon be out in the bookstores.  The author, Denise Gee (alias Dee Dee),  grew up in a four-story antebellum house in downtown Natchez surrounded by a family (including her cousin, designer-author Lee Bailey) that was passionate about sharing great food, cocktails, and the lively story telling that follows.  She has written extensively about Southern people, places, food and style for Southern Living, Coastal Living, Better Homes and Gardens, and a host of newspapers.  Her first book, Southern Cocktails:  Dixie Drinks, Party Potions & Classic Libations, will be published by Chronicle Books in June.

You will, also, enjoy meeting Robert Peacock, another Natchez native, who is one of the South’s leading food, home, travel, and people photographers.  He has shot for Better Homes and Gardens, Southern Living, Coastal Living, Southern Accents, D Home and numerous newspapers.  His beautiful work is a big part of this new book.  Plan to get one for yourself and another one as a gift.  Dee Dee will be happy to sign them while you are here.

Tildon and Vickie of Bullard’s BBQ will be here selling their sliced beef sandwiches. Tildon has been cooking briskets for 25 years. They use only choice quality beef from an established distributor, quality ingredients for their family recipe dry rub, marinade and barbeque sauce, and, of course, hickory for properly smoked briskets.  They take great pride in serving a mouth watering, tender brisket and work very hard to make that their standard.   They will be selling their sliced, smoked brisket by the pound for you to take home and enjoy.

More Entertainment for the day is still in the planning stage and will be updated on the calendar later.

June 30

Saturday

All Western Day

How about starting the morning with a Cowboy Chuck Wagon Breakfast? Talk about a treat for both adults and children - wonderful food prepared in an authentic setting; add great music and western dress! Cost of the tickets are $3.50 children 6 years old and younger and $10 for children 7 and over and for all adults. for The number of tickets available will be limited and will need to be ordered and paid for in advance. Enjoy the atmosphere of the "Old South West Trail Drive" that morning. Everyone in your family will enjoy the menu - sausage gravy, camp biscuits, fried taters, cowboy donuts, campfire coffee and juice. With their 1850's authentic chuck wagon set up, you and your family will enjoy the simple camp display and learn more about authentic cowboy cooking.

After Joe & Martha clean up after breakfast, they will start cooking "Dutch oven cobblers" for you to enjoy.

Then after this....Noon and lunchtime highlights Tildon and Vickie of Bullard's BBQ for a second time this summer. They will be selling their delicious sliced beef sandwiches again. I know that if you were fortunate enough to try then on June 16, you will want to try them again. They take great pride in serving a mouth watering, tender brisket and work very hard to make that their standard. Once again, they will be selling their sliced, smoked brisket by the pound for you to take home and enjoy.

By the time that you are finished with lunch the fragrance of the wonderful cobblers baking back at the chuck wagon will beckon to you. Servings of hot cobbler will cost $2 and you may have to wait a few minutes for them to cool before you dig in.

Next, we add a bona fide western poet and storyteller to the day.  May we introduce you to Lanny Joe Burnett?  Lanny Joe was raised on a ranch in Fannin County, Texas.  The son of 5th generation Texans, he learned at an early age the responsibility of being a steward of the land.  After graduating from East Texas State University, Lanny Joe taught school, was a ski instructor, raced motorcycles, worked as a cook, and was a sales trainer and motivator.  He’s been a cowboy all his life.  He can’t help it, it’s in his blood.

Lanny Joe has performed at venues across the United States, in Western Europe and Central Asia.  His poems and performances have won best of show at gatherings in Texas and Oklahoma and in both 2004 and 2005; the Academy of Western Artists nominated him as “Cowboy Poet of the Year”.  In 2005, he won first place at the Western Legends Roundup – Cowboy Poetry Rodeo in Kanab, Utah and was honored with a spot on the evening show at the National Cowboy Symposium & Celebration in Lubbock, Texas.  He currently serves as Single Adult leader in his church and teaches a weekly Bible study.  He is proud to drive a pickup truck that makes carwash employees run for cover.
