Are you open right now?
Well, depending on when you’re reading this we may or may not be open. Blueberry and blackberry season is in June and July and we are open to the public during that time. We also plan a couple of other events and workshops during the rest of the year where we invite others to The Berry Patch. To stay informed about when we are open and other events please find us on Facebook and sign up for our newsletter.
Do you have food for purchase during the picking season?
We do have beverages and snacks available for purchase while you are picking berries. We also welcome families to bring picnics out with them, however we request that you clean up after yourselves and please refrain from bringing alcohol with you. There are a few restaurants and fast food locations we can direct you to, but be prepared to drive a little ways to get there.
Do you have other produce?
We have well over 100 fruit and nut trees on the property. We have Mayhaw, Persimmon and Pluot trees that seem to produce an abundance of fruit. We announce the availability of these fruits via Facebook and our newsletter.
What else is there to do?
Part of the charm of our location is that we are in the country. That means there’s not a bustle of activity around every corner. That being said, we love the surrounding areas of Texoma and there is plenty to see and do in Whitesboro, Pottsboro, Sherman, Denison, and Gainesville. Don’t miss a chance to go out to beautiful Lake Texoma either. Check out the websites for each of these towns to discover all the charms the Texoma region has to offer.
How much do berries cost?

What do I need to bring with me to pick berries?
We provide the buckets for you to pick your berries and will instruct you on what to look for when picking berries. It gets hot in the summer and recommend that you wear cool, comfortable clothing. You’re gonna get dirty and there are bugs. We recommend wearing necessary skin protection and insect repellent. The bottom line answer is NO. We love pets and love to meet others’ pets, but due to liability issues and out of respect to our other guests we ask you to refrain from bring both pets and alcohol on our property.
Are your berries organic?
Not yet. There’s a long process to have our berries certified as organic. However, we do everything that we can to not use pesticides or herbicides on our berries. In the past fertilizer has been used, but it is delivered through the irrigation system, so nothing is ever sprayed on the bushes. Our berries are safe to eat right off the bush.
Do you sell to farmer’s markets or other retail establishments?
As much as we’d love to get our berries out to anyone who will buy them we are strictly pick-your-own. If we sold our berries to farmers markets and other establishments we’d have to hire the labor force to pick those berries and get them to those places. Instead, we like to have people come visit us and actually see where those berries are coming from.
Can I buy blueberry or blackberry bushes from you?
At this time we are unable to sell blackberry bushes as they are patented and we do not have the right to propagate them. If you are interested in purchasing blueberry bushes contact Erick at info@txberry.com or erick@goduarte.com.
Do you can your own pickles and preserves?
Oh how we wish we could say yes. But again this is a lot of work and requires more facilitities and produce than we have. We get our pickles and preserves from a private label in east Texas that has quality product that we’re proud to put our label on.
Can I host an event at The Berry Patch?
Yes! We can be rented. We’re in the early stages of making our property a place to be used as a venue for your needs. At this time we love to have school groups and gardening groups out. We also love to host workshops and other small group opportunities. Email us at info@txberry.com and let’s see if we can help you plan your event!
What do I do with the gazillion berries I picked?
Anything and everything! The best thing to do is to freeze them after you pick them. First thing’s first...DO NOT wash your berries! This causes them to get mushy and possibly moldy. It’s best to spread the berries out on a cookie sheet, freeze for about 20 minutes and put them in a ziploc bag or freezer container of your choice. Get recipes through our newsletters, online, food.com, thepioneerwoman.com, friends, family, etc...add ‘em to your fruit smoothies, morning cereal or yogurt. There are lots of great ways to eat your blueberries and blackberries.
What variety of blueberries to you have?
We currently have Brightwell, Tifblue, Climax, and Premiere varieties.
