Family Day Success
Whew! The U-Pick Trail Family Day came and went in the blink of an eye and a blast of heat. Thankfully we had a bit of a breeze that made the temps a wee bit easier to bear. There are not enough words to express what an experience the day was. It was great fun and soooooo many berries were picked! Thank you to everyone who came out and made the day a success. A big thanks to our staff who worked tirelessly!!
Berries are continuing to ripen and will be going strong for weeks to come, so come on out and see us! This Saturday we will have a petting zoo, karaoke and face-painting.
Nice to Meet You…Again
This may seem a little redundant, but we've added many subscribers to our newsletter so I think introductions are in order! Plus, it's just kind of fun. Ok, here goes:
Erick and Jeannie Duarte recently purchased the Berry Patch from Pearce and Ann Bailey. The Baileys were really (for real) ready for retirement, but loved the experience the Berry Patch provided to families. Along came Jeannie and Erick who wanted to move away from the big city (Dallas) and have some land of their own. Bailey's Berry Patch provided that opportunity and the Duartes loved the idea of having a place that provided a family experience. So, here we are today!
Then there's me, Gaela Renee. I'm Jeannie's sister. And I like to write about our experiences and share them with you. I couldn't let my big sister have all the fun, so I said, 'Hey…I like to plan and coordinate things, I can plan the summer events. Oh and I like to write about random things. I can contribute to the newsletter.'
And the rest, as they say, is history.
We've all really enjoyed the experience so far and it has been such a pleasure to meet you!
Speaking of Family…
Just want to remind parents to please keep an eye on your children at all times when you're out here. It's easy to get caught up in picking berries…trying to fill up the bucket, deciding which berries are the best, getting distracted by all the recipes dancing around in your head and which one to try first. But as the season is in full swing and more people are on the property we just want to make sure that there aren't any preventable mishaps. So, for the love of all that is safe, sane and holy do not let them out of your eyesight. They can be slippery, sly little kiddos but we want to make sure everyone (kids, parents, grandparents and everything in-between) are having a good time.

Recipe
Here's a quick, easy and cool recipe. It's too hot to spend much time in the kitchen, especially if your recipe doesn't involve ice!
Blueberry Yogurt Smoothie
Ingredients
1 cup Plain, Unflavored Yogurt
1 cup Blueberries
¼ cups Milk
1 dash Honey
Ice
Preparation Instructions
Place yogurt, fruit, milk, a handful of ice and honey to taste all into a blender. Blend until smooth. Taste it for sweetness and add more honey if needed.
Pour, drink and enjoy!
